Richmond Dickson began his formal study of the human body at the CORE Institute School of Massage Therapy and Bodywork in Tallahassee, Florida, in the Fall of 2002. Upon completion of their 650 hour course of study, Richmond entered into a 2-year Graduate Assistant program at CORE, further developing his skills as a teacher of massage therapy and the sciences of the human experience. He went on to teach at CORE with a primary focus on the science and wellness courses. Richmond received his Bachelor’s Degree in Alternative Medicine from Everglades University, where his knowledge and understanding of the many complementary modalities of medicine were expanded, and further led to a trip to India where he was exposed, first hand, to the power, efficiency and simplicity of Ayurvedic Medicine. After being in private practice for a few years, Richmond began working with Titus Sports Academy of Tallahassee, FL, where he worked with professional, collegiate, and amateur athletes, which deepened his understanding of the conditions associated with soft-tissue injury, and the postural and movement dysfunctions that result from repetitive use patterns and lead to acute injuries and chronic pain. In 2010 Richmond returned to the CORE Institute to advance his study of Structural Integration (known by many as Rolfing), training under the guidance of his primary teacher, George Kousaleos in the original 10-session protocols created by Ida Rolf.
Richmond was introduced to the practice of yoga through a series of Rodney Yee / Patricia Walden videos, and began practicing regularly with his oldest sister, Robyn Ceballos, at her studio in Tallahassee. He went on to study with James Bailey and Shiva Rea, whom he travelled to India with in 2004. Richmond was introduced to Shadow Yoga by Dr. Scott Blossom, with whom he studied the teachings of Hatha Yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine, Buddhism, Chinese Medicine, and Eastern and Western anatomy & physiology, and his ongoing study and practice of yoga and Ayurveda led him to complete the Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist trainings at Kripalu School of Ayurveda in the summer of 2012. Richmond continued his study of Shadow Yoga with Andy Matinog and Matt Pesendian who, in 2018, helped Richmond establish Shadow Yoga Boston where he shares and hosts the teachings of Sundernath, the founder of Shadow Yoga.
Richmond continues his work as a manual therapist, a teacher of musculoskeletal and myofascial anatomy and kinesiology, and leads yoga and lifestyle trainings, retreats and workshops nationally and internationally. In his professional practice, Richmond has worked with a variety of clients including professional and Olympic athletes, dancers, yoga and martial arts practitioners, and the every-day seekers of life - “My ultimate goal is to provide a space where teachers, students, and clients can interact, grow, heal and learn so that they might find a rhythm that brings balance and peace to their day-to-day lives.”
Richmond C. Dickson is the founder and director of The New England School of Therapeutics, and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice Massage Therapy. He is certified by the Kripalu School of Ayurveda as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.
