Richmond Dickson began his formal study of the human body at The CORE Institute School of Massage Therapy and Bodywork in Tallahassee, Florida, in the Fall of 2002. Upon completion of their 650 hour course of study, Richmond began a 2-year Graduate Assistant program at CORE which helped develope his skills as a teacher of massage therapy and the sciences of the human experience. He went on to teach at CORE with a primary focus on the science and wellness programs. Richmond received a Bachelor’s Degree in Alternative Medicine from Everglades University, where his knowledge and understanding of the many complementary modalities of medicine were expanded, and led to a trip to India where he was introduced first hand to the power, efficiency and simplicity of Ayurvedic Medicine. After being in private practice for a few years, Richmond began working with Titus Sports Academy of Tallahassee, FL, where he further developed his understanding of the conditions associated with soft-tissue injury, and the postural and movement dysfunctions resulting from acute and chronic pain patterns. In 2010 Richmond, again, returned to the CORE Institute to advance his study in the science of Structural Integration (known by many as Rolfing), studying the original 10-session protocols under the guidance of his primary teacher, George Kousaleous.d
Richmond was introduced to the practice of yoga through a series of Rodney Yee videos, and began a regular practice with his oldest sister, Robyn Ceballos, which eventually led to his teaching classes at her studio in Tallahassee. He went on to study with James Bailey and Shiva Rea, and currently studies the teachings of Hatha Yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine, Buddhism, Chinese Medicine, and Eastern and Western anatomy & physiology with teachers Scott Blossom, Matt Pesendian, and Shandor Remete. Richmond's ongoing study and practice of yoga and ayurveda led him to complete the Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist trainings at Kripalu School of Ayurveda in the summer of 2012.
Richmond continues his work as a manual therapist, a teacher of musculoskeletal and myofascial anatomy and kinesiology, and leads yoga and lifestyle trainings, retreats and workshops nationally and internationally. In his professional practice, Richmond has worked with a variety of clients including professional and Olympic athletes, dancers, yoga and martial arts practitioners, and the every-day seekers of life - “My ultimate goal is to provide a safe and sacred space where teachers, students, and clients can interact, grow, heal, and learn from one another . . . and find freedom in movement and posture, and a rhythm that brings balance and peace to their day-to-day lives.”
Richmond C. Dickson is the founder and owner of The New England School of Therapeutics and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice Massage Therapy. He is also certified by the Kripalu School of Ayurveda as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.
